Ada Lily Juretic arrived on 17th February 2009 at 7.34am, weighing in at 8lbs 8oz – a little earlier and bigger than expected.
Mum and daughter are home now and doing very well :0)
Spent a (very) long weekend visiting Sauze and Patrick in Chamonix with Dash.
Had the most amazing time snowboarding off piste with the help of Sauze – our mountain guide for the weekend. We got to go to places we would have never known existed without her – she knows the place like the back of her hand. Thanks a million Sauze – especially for putting up with a couple of muppets like us on the slopes.
Patrick join us on a few of our outings and showed us how really men snowboard. In turn, Dash & I showed him how real men drink and tucked into his whiskey on several occasions – thanks Patrick
I’d also like thank my lovely wife Roni for holding out on giving birth to our second child and looking after Otto whilst I was away – love you xxx
P.S. Music by Empire of the Sun-Walking on a dream – my fav Last.fm track this month. Album out today
Psychedelic Australian fantasy pop duo Empire of the Sun rock my boat – watch out for these guys.
Check out Walking on a Dream
Jake Juretic (our nephew) aged 11 1/2 and the future Australian Wave sailing Champion in training; windsurfing off Brighton Beach, Sydney, Australia.
Go for it Jake
Here is Jess Juretic aged 13 1/2 ripping it up in Brighton Beach, Sydney too.
Go for it Jess – we like thoughs water starts and mind out for those jets!!!!
For those of you who don’t know Brighton Beach is in Botany Harbour Sydney, which is right next to Sydney International Airport. If you get your timing right you can windsurf past the end of the runway just as jumbos are taking off or landing to get a few extra knots of wind!!!! Watch out that you don’t melt your sails!?
Ok thought I’d try out the Wordpress blogging app for the iPhone. It’s very easy to use – just like sending a text. However the speed of my finger typing on the iphone means it will take me all day to write something interesting. But it’s good to blog where ever and when ever you like.
I think I will get out of bed now, get the Sunday papers and go for a nice Sunday roast.
It’s the shortest day of the today so we will be heading down to the seafront to watch the burning of the clocks. Summer here we come :@)
Just found a beautiful gallery of Hugh Holland skateboard photos of the Z Boys in Santa Monica, before skateboarding got into the main stream.
Hugh Holland managed to capture the skateboarding culture in a way nobody else has been able to do; when skating was taken straight out of surf from Santa Monica Pier & Venice Beach.
Skating was very much apart of surf culture with skaters raiding empty swimming pools in the Californian winters to ride the bowls.
Check out the movie Dogtown And Z Boys - its make great viewing on long winter nights.
My alarm (Otto) woke me a 7am to a lovely sunrise. It took several minutes for me to muster the courage to get out of my lovely warm pit and venture down to the Hotpipes.
It didn’t take me long to realise it was the best idea of the week. It was low to mid tide with long lines of waves could be seen coming in on a very calm sea – perfect conditions for a morning longboard.
We spent the next hour catching waves, watching the sunrise and getting some good rides in before heading back home for breakfast with a big smile on my face
Managed to sneak in a quick surf trip to Peniche with Sam, Stig, Greg and Alex.
The waves where excellent the first day – good for us novices. However each day they got bigger and bigger until even the locals where having problems getting out.
It’s an awesome place to surf and watch bigs wave. We checked out Super Tubos too – saw some chap get the ride of his life – he was the Super Tubos Hero- I’ve never seen a ride like. If only I could surf like that
